A Note From Beth Regarding the Conception of the Logo:
After graduating college,
I won a DeBeers Diamonds International Award on a drawn
entry. I went to seek much needed advice from my high
school jewelry teacher and first mentor, Roy Risley,
on how to execute the piece.
I was overwhelmed at winning as well as feeling young
and inexperienced on the bench. He began “helping”
me on the execution of the metal work by asking me if
I had ever seen the “Wizard of Oz”. Having
nothing to do with the conversation, I was a bit confused.
He went on to ask what the “Lion” needed.
The answer, of course, is “Courage”. I just
needed the courage to sit at the bench and begin executing
the piece and to have confidence in my abilities.
I began to realize this “Courage” was what
one needed in life. Small steps lead to a larger overall
step. With a little bit of “Courage” people
can accomplish anything they set their minds to. With
this and also being born under the sign of Leo my logo
was created.
